Poison & Pyaar (love), an adaptation of Frank Capra's classic 'Arsenic and Old Lace' debuts at the artsdepot in North London for one night only. The play is based around the antics of two old aunties and an uncle in India helping their local old folk in a most unorthodox manner, which is soon discovered by their alarmed nephew Akshay; the film critic from Mumbai, famous for his harsh reviews of all things Bollywood. The situation is made worse with the return of his estranged brother Amjid who has secrets of his own accompanied by his very eccentric and affectionate personal doctor. Some families are just plain murder!
"The original was a slapstick comedy on the antics of an eccentric British family and it’s surprising how much of the essence we've been able to retain in our own Asian adaptation. It just goes to show all families are mental!" - Aiyaz Ahmed, Producer.
"We've got a great cast of seasoned actors and talented newcomers in a great comedy of manners that epitomises the saying 'you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family!' - Kayser Foyz, Director.
The play starts at 7.30pm on Saturday 4th July at the artsdepot in North Finchley. The play will be preceded by complimentary canapés from 6.30pm. There will be post show drinks with the cast and crew. Poison & Pyaar was written by Aiyaz Ahmed and directed by Kayser A. Foyz.
